This novel is set in the fictional town of West Egg on Long Island in 1922. The novel follows the lives of the Eggers family, who are a wealthy and eccentric clan. The youngest Egger, 10-year-old Georgie, is the only child of parents who are in a hurry to get married and start a family. Georgie's parents are constantly traveling, and they forbid Georgie from going on vacation with them because they don't want him to get too used to their lifestyle. Georgie spends his summer vacations with his Uncle Will and Aunt Lily, who live on a farm in upstate New York. Georgie is fascinated by the farm and the way his uncles and aunts live simple but happy lives. When Georgie's parents come to visit him, they are disappointed to find that he has been spending his time with his uncles and aunts. They are also disappointed that Georgie has not developed any interest in inheriting their wealth. This novel; 8vo; 204 pages.
