Death in Zanzibar is the story of a woman's journey to find her husband who has gone missing in Zanzibar. The woman, named Salome, is a widow who has been living in Zanzibar for years. She is a seamstress and is very resourceful. Salome begins to look for her husband, who she believes is dead, but she finds out that he is actually alive and has been hiding in a remote part of the island.
