Silent Wings: The Saga of the U.S. Army and Marine Combat Glider Pilots During World War II - 1st Edition/1st Printing
Gerard M. Devlin
First US Edition, First Printing, following the British edition in Fine condition in Near Fine, slightly rubbed dust-jacket. Signed by author Gerard M. Devlin on his personal book-plate including his address. Inscribed by Devlin to Jim Williams, son of W. T. Sampson II "#1GP". Mr. Sampson is noted in the index to the rear of the book and was one of the first Glider Pilots. Opposite the Foreword it also includes a Christmas 1985 inscription of Mr. Sampson to his son Jim "Hope you enjoy this as much as I did, being a part of it". A most attractive association copy;
The combat glider pilots were a rough and ready breed, not bashful about saying that the "G" on their wings stood for guts.
