Medicine

From its roots in home remedies and herbalism, medicine has grown into an art and science that affects our lives every day. The earliest written records from ancient cultures include evidence of early medical study. The Greek physician Hippocrates truly revolutionized medicine, however. He established the first system for categorizing illnesses and introduced the Hippocratic Oath for physicians. Most basic principles of medicine and anatomy were accepted without question until the Black Death, which turned traditional medical theory and thought on end. Since then, our knowledge of medicine has increased exponentially. Medicine is addressed in both non-fiction and fiction.
