Appleby and the Ospreys is the story of a young boy named Appleby who, after the death of his mother, is sent to live with his father and stepmother in the Scottish Highlands. Appleby is a restless and adventurous child, and he quickly becomes bored with the monotony of life in the Highlands. One day, while out exploring the nearby forest, Appleby comes across a group of ospreys nesting in a tree. Fascinated by these majestic birds, Appleby spends hours exploring the nests and watching the birdsflight. One day, while Appleby is watching the ospreys from a nearby cliff, he sees one of the birds fly off into the distance. Appleby is so excited by this sighting that he decides to follow the bird. After a long journey, Appleby eventually reaches the osprey's nest, where he is welcomed by the birds. Appleby spends the rest of the day exploring the nest and playing with the ospreys; 8vo; $6.50.
