On the way, he is attacked by a sea monster and is saved by a group of pirates. The pirates take him to their ship and let him stay while they search for a new captain. Will eventually be taken to the mainland and meets a girl named Sadie. Sadie and her friends help Will find his way in the world and teach him about the people and culture of the mainland.
