Willard Maas acted as chairman. The following excerpts make up about one half of the symposium. Ideas repeated for the second audience and personal introductions of the panel make up, for the most part, the missing half.

Arthur Miller

Arthur Asher Miller (October 17, 1915 – February 10, 2005) was considered one of America's greatest playwrights and essayists. Miller wrote a wide variety of plays, including celebrated plays such as The Crucible, A View from the Bridge, All My Sons, and Death of a Salesman, winning the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. He was also known for his marriage with actress Marilyn Monroe.
