A stunning first edition/first printing in Fine condition in alike dust-jacket. From the collection of Betty Anderson, legendary art director of publisher Knopf in the late 20th century as evidenced by her (small and unobtrusive) inventory number and signature on front paste down. Included is a typed, signed letter dated 3/13/84 (the day after publication) by June Sprigg to Betty Anderson thanking her for her contributions as well as a Knopf call-note advising Ms. Anderson of Ms. Sprigg's call. Also included are five flyers advertising the publication of the book (originally planned for November 1983, at $16.95. [The publication was delayed and the book was eventually issued at $17.95]).

Sprigg evokes the everyday lives of women in eighteenth-century America, in the kitchen, in the parlor, on the farm, happy and unhappy, sick and well, old and young, with a freshness and immediacy that rise from the words of the women themselves; 4to; Signed by Author.
