Toni Morrison

Toni Morrison (born Chloe Ardelia Wofford on February 18, 1931 in Lorain, Ohio) is an American author and a former professor at The State University of New York and Princeton University.

Her 1977 novel Song of Solomon was awarded the National Book Critics Circle Award, while Beloved, her 1987 novel, became an even greater success. It received the Pulitzer Prize for fiction and the American Book Award. It was made into the 1998 film starring Danny Glover and Oprah Winfrey.

Morrison was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1993.
