This book tells the story of Charles II and the Restoration. Charles II was king of England during the mid-17th century and during this time, he faced many challenges. One of the most important challenges was the Civil War, which was a conflict between the king and his Parliament. The Parliament wanted more power and the king didn't want to give them too much power. The Civil War resulted in the king losing power and the Parliament gaining more power. Charles II also had to deal with the problem of the English colonies. The English colonies were located in North America and they were controlled by the British government. The British government wanted the colonies to be loyal to England but the colonists wanted to be independent. Charles II tried to solve the problem of the English colonies but he was unsuccessful.; B&W and Color Illustrations; 8vo.
