George Sylvester Viereck was born in 1881 in Germany to a prosperous family. In 1907, he moved to the United States and became a naturalized citizen. Viereck quickly established himself as a leading German-American intellectual and journalist. He was a staunch supporter of American democracy and was a vocal critic of Nazi Germany.
