A charming first printing of the first edition in Fine condition, bound in burgundy cloth with silver foil lettering on spine and silver foil sleigh bell blocked on front cover, taupe endpapers. In just about Fine dust-jacket, only rather minor signs of yellowing, short closed tear to back-panel with Van Allsburg's illustrations on front and back.

Chris Van Allsburg

Chris Van Allsburg (born June 18, 1949 in Grand Rapids, MI) is an American author and illustrator of children's books. He won the Caldecott Medal for Jumanji (1982) and The Polar Express (1985), both of which he wrote and illustrated, and both of which were later adapted into successful motion pictures. He received the Caldecott Honor Medal in 1980 for The Garden of Abdul Gasazi.
