Robert Graves was born in 1898 in Charing Cross, London. He attended the King's School, Canterbury, and then studied at the University of Cambridge. He served in World War I and later worked as an editor and critic. Graves published his first book, The White Goddess, in 1948. He wrote more than 20 books, including The Iliad and The Odyssey, The Complete Poems, and The White Goddess: A Ritual Book. Graves died in 1985.; 8vo; 608 pages.
