This book is the story of a young Japanese girl, born in 1941, who survives the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and the subsequent nuclear war. She and her family are forced to flee their home in the face of impending American occupation, and live in a small village in the mountains. The girl becomes involved in the resistance movement, and is eventually drafted into the Japanese military. She volunteers to be a kamikaze pilot, and is flown into the heart of the American fleet in a suicide mission. The book ends with her death and the liberation of Japan.; 8vo; 350 pages.
