The novel tells the story of a Jewish family living in a small town in New Jersey in the 1930s. The family is struggling to make ends meet, and when the father loses his job, they are forced to sell their home and move in with relatives. The family is hopeful that the move will help them get back on their feet, but instead, things get even worse. The family is forced to live in a cramped, unsafe, and unsanitary house, and their food is scarce. The father is so desperate for rain that he starts praying for it. And, miraculously, the rain starts falling. The family is finally able to get their life back on track and they are able to rebuild their home.; 8vo; 422 pages.
