John S. Jackman was born on November 17, 1863, in Rutherford County, Tennessee. He enlisted in the Confederate Army in April 1864, and served as a corporal with the Orphan Brigade. The brigade was part of General James Longstreet's corps during the Atlanta Campaign. In September 1864, the brigade was involved in the Battle of Jonesboro. In February 1865, the brigade was involved in the Battle of Bentonville. John S. Jackman was wounded at the Battle of Franklin and died on October 1, 1865, at the age of 19.; 8vo; 174 pages; TBC.
