Allende, Isabel

Isabel Allende Llona (born August 2, 1942 in Lima, Peru) is a Chilean writer. She is one of the most prominent woman writers in Latin America and she is considered to be the “the world’s most widely read Spanish-language author”. Some of her novels include The House of the Spirits (1982) and Eva Luna (1987). Isabel Allende has received the Grand Prix d’Evasion and the Chevalier des Artes et des Lettres distinction from France, the Bancarella Prize from Italy, and the Gabriela Mistral Prize from Chile. She currently resides in San Rafael, California.
