Lois Gould's new novel is a Sea-Change, a story of a generation of women who have come of age in the age of Trump. Maggie, the protagonist, is a recent college graduate who is struggling to find her place in the world. She is eager to start her career, but her dreams are interrupted by the arrival of her mother in town, who has decided to retire and move to Maggie's childhood home. Maggie's mother is a political activist who is frustrated by the current state of the world and the lack of progress women have made. Maggie is drawn to her mother's activism, but is also reluctant to abandon her own dreams. She starts working for her mother's campaign, but is frustrated by the lack of change in the world. Then, in the midst of the campaign, Maggie meets Jack, a young, unemployed man who is also frustrated with the state of the world. They start dating, and Maggie is surprised by how much she enjoys being in a relationship; 8vo; 163 pages.
