When his parents die in a car crash, Kazuya is sent to live with his grandparents in a small Japanese town. Kazuya is not happy with this arrangement and spends his days exploring the town and the forest that surrounds it. One day, Kazuya finds a strange tree in the forest. The tree is covered in strange symbols and when Kazuya touches it, he experiences a strange feeling. The more Kazuya touches the tree, the more he feels the need to stay near it. One day, Kazuya's Grandfather finds him near the tree and is not happy. He tells Kazuya that the tree is a Devil Tree and that he must not touch it. Kazuya doesn't believe his Grandfather and continues to touch the tree. Suddenly, the tree starts to move and Kazuya is dragged into its trunk.
