Set in the 1950s, this is the story of Cesar and Nestor Castillo who emigrate from Cuba to New York's Harlem. Workers by day, they enter the world of dance halls and music at night. Their band reaches its zenith with a guest appearance on the I Love Lucy Show as Ricky's back-up band. A wonderful portrait of an era and a culture.

Hijuelos is the first Hispanic American to win a Pulitzer Prize (for this novel).

Basis for the 1992 film and 2005 Broadway musical.

Contains all of the classic Easton Press trimmings: premium leather; silk moiré endpapers; distinctive cover design with raised bands. Cover accented in 22KT gold with gilt page edges; satin marker; long-lasting, high quality, acid-neutral paper; sewn pages for strength and durability; 8vo; Signed by Author.
