In Badger Game, Michael Bowen tells the story of two friends and hunting partners, Tommy and Will, as they navigate their way through life in rural Wisconsin. Tommy is a hard-working, no-nonsense man who is trying to make a life for himself and his daughter after his wife's death. Will is a free spirit, always looking for the next adventure, and he's the one who introduces Tommy to hunting.

The two men hit it off and begin spending more and more time hunting together. They soon realize that hunting is the perfect way to spend their time together. They share stories, laugh, and bond over their love of the outdoors. However, their friendship is tested when Tommy becomes seriously ill and Will has to take care of him.
