Shadow Play is the story of a young girl, Jacqueline, who is sent to live with her great-aunt in the country after her mother's death. Jacqueline is excited to begin her new life, but soon discovers that the old woman is a recluse who has no interest in the outside world. One day, Jacqueline finds a box in her great-aunt's attic that she is forbidden to open. Inside is a set of puppets, and Jacqueline is mesmerized by them. She begins to wonder what life would be like to be a puppet herself, and starts to make up stories about her puppet friends. Eventually, Jacqueline is able to convince her great-aunt to let her perform her puppet shows for the village children. Shadow Play is a charming story about overcoming obstacles and finding happiness in the simplest things.; 8vo; Signed by Author.
