Buffalo Girls is a coming-of-age story set in the rough and tumble world of oil country Texas in the 1960s. Larry McMurtry's graceful, lyrical prose captures the excitement, camaraderie, and heartache of youth, as three girls pursue their dreams in a time when women had few opportunities.

The story follows the intertwined lives of the girls as they go from being the perfect angels of their small-town church basements to pregnant teenagers, to wild women of the oil boomtown. McMurtry captures the essence of the time, the unbridled optimism and recklessness of youth, and the great cost of freedom.; 8vo.
