Tadhg is stationed in Germany, and Lillie is working as a nurse in a Dublin hospital. They are unable to come back to Ireland, and so they write to each other, telling each other their stories and sharing photos. When Tadhg is released from the Army, he travels to Ireland to find Lillie. Along the way, he meets new friends and experiences different parts of Ireland, but he is always searching for Lillie.
