Set in the early 1970's in the imaginary African nation of Kush, this novel is narrated tongue-in-cheek by exiled president, Colonel Hakim Félix Ellelloû who has a fanatic aversion to the United States. The US keeps creeping into Kush and the repercussions of this subversion constitute the violent events of the story.
