When her mom dies, fourteen-year-old Lillie is left to care for her younger brother. With no one to turn to, Lillie relies on the kindness of her family and friends to help her through her tough times. When Lillie meets a new boy in her class, she starts to think that things might be looking up. But when her brother is diagnosed with cancer, Lillie realizes that she's been living in a bubble and that there's so much more to life than she thought. She starts to make new friends and learn about the struggles that people face every day. Lillie is inspired to help others when she learns that her brother is going to need a lot of support to fight his illness. With the support of her new friends, Lillie is able to find the strength to fight on behalf of her brother and help him through his darkest moments.
