Red Square is a novel set in Moscow during the waning days of the Soviet Union. It tells the story of two boys, Lev and Sasha, who are forced to flee their home country during the Russian Revolution. They end up in Moscow, where they are taken in by a strange old woman and her son. The old woman teaches Lev and Sasha to read and write and tells them stories of Moscow's past.
