This book is a comparative study of the investment returns to equity capital in the gold mining industry in South Africa, Australia, Canada, Chile, Mexico, Peru, and the United States from 1887 to 1965. The study uses data from Company Annual Reports and stock market performance data. The study finds that the return to equity capital in the gold mining industry was generally higher in the United States than in any of the other countries studied.
