Ramesses III, better known as Ramesses the Great, was the fifth pharaoh of the Twentieth Dynasty of Egypt. He ruled from 1279 BC to 1213 BC, and his reign is considered the golden age of ancient Egyptian civilization. His rule is noted for its great military successes, including his famous victory over the Hittites at the Battle of Kadesh.
