Isaac Bashevis Singer

Isaac Bashevis Singer (born November 21, 1902 in Leoncin, Congress Poland) was a Jewish author noted for his short stories. He is known as one of the leading figures of the Yiddish literary movement. Some of his works include Gimpel the Fool, Yentl the Yeshiva Boy, and The Golem . Singer received the Nobel Prize in 1978 for his “impassioned narrative art”. He died on July 24, 1991 in Surfside, Florida.
