There she finds Polly lying in a pool of blood, and is horrified to realize that the doll has been stabbed to death. Tessa flees the building in a panic, but is quickly apprehended by the police. She is charged with Polly's murder and is sent to a juvenile detention center. With the help of her lawyer, Tessa tries to prove her innocence, but the evidence against her is overwhelming. As the trial approaches, Tessa's hope dwindles until she is summoned to the stand to testify. She is shocked to find that Polly has come to life and is now testifying on her behalf.
